Look over our shoulder

If you are interested in what we are doing at the workshop, we have a new feature that lets you see what’s going on:

If you want to directly call up the page, just go to https://watchguy.co.uk/cgi-bin/library?action=current

As you can see, Ray is on holidays this week, so it’s just me.

Also, to add a bit of openness, we show what we charged for the work down to the last penny, and how long the watch has been with us. This will give you a good idea of what to expect…

  1. Splendid work!
I have the impression that mostly the basic watch work is quite fast; it’s the documentation, ordering, photography and IT that takes most of your time. And that warrants my adjective.

    • Agreed but I suspect itโ€™s the other way round. Photographs and publication done in a trice and most time devoted to horological skills!

    • The photographs are probably also very useful when reassembling the watch. Christian is obviously a very experienced watchmaker and can probably reassemble run-of-the mill movements blindfolded, but I imagine when working with a particular movement for the first time, disassembly photos would be helpful during reassembly.

      • Absolutely right – I can do an Omega 321 blindfolded at night, but some on some of the rarer movements, the photographs come in very useful indeed. Especially on the fiddly movements with tiny screws (VC etc.).

I know that quite a lot of colleagues consult the photo library when they are stumped for the location of a part or a screw ๐Ÿ˜‰
