Our best asset – the watch library

Just in case you haven’t discovered it yet – our biggest asset on this site is our vast photo library. We have over 2000 watches in here, with detailed photos for every one of them. I hear it’s quite popular with other watchmakers who can’t remember which screw goes where 😉

Check out the alphabetical list by manufacturer.

Here is the list of the most popular watches:

That’s 3 cameras so far that have bitten the dust 😉

There are of course also some very obscure brands, like Tenor Dorly… Have fun exploring!

  1. Thanks to your photo library I trust myself to overhaul my IWC Fliegeruhr UTC TZC.
I am already very experienced in overhauling most of my watches, but this particular one is definitely a little tricky. Especially below the dial. The basic movement, ETA 2892-2, is not that difficult. I also found more information about the time zone corrector mechanism in the internet, i.e. aligning the wheels of this mechanism and oiling plans. Since the watch is still in a excellent condition, the glass and case do not need to be replaced or polished. It was last overhauled by IWC 7 years ago and since then only worn a very few times.
Thank you very much for this very interesting photo library!

  2. Thank you very very much for sharing these photos.
I wonder now how happy I would be to find a “damaged” watch just to have the opportunity to see a complete “reportage” of your work.

  3. I’ve learned quite a bit from your blog and will add that the photo archive has been a godsend at times. Thank you for sharing. :o)

  4. The Dr Roland Ranfft Archive site is also a good source for specification, but if you want close up views of where all the bits go you can’t beat Watch Guy.
    Congratulations, keep snapping.

  5. I think that this library captures the best of the Internet; a true sharing of knowledge.

    Congratulations!!!!

  6. I love your library. Whenever I get a watch with a new movement I go looking to see if you have it in your database. It’s been quite useful working out what could be going on with a Seiko Bellmatic that had some specific issues and I had your photos up when I finally took the plunge and dismantled the dial side down to the keyless works – and I got it back together and working properly, which I consider a miracle given it was my first real effort at movement repair. Thank you.

  7. I use to look at it just to appreciate the beauty of some movements and technical solutions, and mostly when I’m away and miss my workbench…

  8. I do exactly this all the time. The blog is pretty useful when dealing with movements that have weird unusual solutions and no technical sheet to be found anywhere. Right now I have open a bunch of pics of the Junghans 667 quartz.
