Seiko 6309-7040 orange dial restoration

First I want to start to introduce myself. I am John, I live in The Netherlands, and I have a small business in repairing and restoring watches.
I am specialised in Seiko divers. These movement are sturdy, cheap, and nice to work on. I have a big stock of spare parts, and after market parts are available. After Christians call for some contribution to his log, I saw an oppurtunity to share my projects to a bigger audience. So I wil post here some of my mods and restorations. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I enjoy Christians log.

The Seiko 6309-704* is a very popular model under collectors. It has a distinctive case shape, known as “Turtle” or “Cushion”.
The best ones are the ones with original dial and hands, but often they come in a very bad state, beyond salvation.
Fortunately there are after market parts for them available, so its possible to resurrect them. Its a pain in the neck for the fanatic collectors, but I think a refurbished watch is better than no watch.

  1. Hi, is a non bevelled date window on an sewa face alleged vintage watch definitely a fake ? In all other respects the watch appears genuine ? Thanks

  6. The strap is very impressive. And it looks almost identical to the heavy duty straps I use to tie my motorbike or boat to their trailers. I suppose at the end of the day, it’s the same material. 🙂

    I’m very impressed by that watch, if I chance upon something like that, I could easily get tempted.

    Is that entire bezel after-market or is it just the insert?
