Service: Nomos Ludwig / ETA 7001

This Nomos Ludwig belongs to Thomas from Nuremberg in Germany.

Great classic design, and a very thin watch. It’s manual wind, and has the ETA 7001 movement.

Unfortunately, it stopped working, even when fully wound. Time for some servicing….

The watch has a glass back so you can see the movement.

Nomos takes the original ETA 7001 and does a bit of embellishing on it – blued screws, and the nice pattern on the bridges.

I’m afraid I forgot to take photos when taking the movement apart, but at least I have a photo of the plate afterwards. Check out the dirt around the centre wheel jewel!

Plenty of dirt on the case as well.

After thoroughly cleaning everything, I put the movement together again. I’ve put a new mainspring in the barrel.

Lovely finish on the barrel wheel.

Final adjustments on the timegrapher.

A very elegant watch – great timeless design.

  1. What a nice watch. Another job well done. I was browsing through your site, but now I fell compelled to read all your posts. Not a big task, because you have a nice way of writing and the pictures you take are very good. Thanks.
